In your "Come and See" weekend you will meet with others to explore:

  • How do I know I have a vocation?
  • What is religious life like?
  • What do I have to do?

This weekend retreat allows single Catholic women to look at these and other questions about religious life. You will meet and talk with Sisters of Bon Secours, have time for quiet prayer, liturgy, group sharing, and relaxation. We begin Saturday morning at 9:00 am and end Sunday at 1:00 pm after Sunday Mass and lunch.

Vocation Discernment

Everyone has a vocation.  A vocation is a call from God to be the person you are meant to be.  Each vocation is sacred and is a way we live out our life.

We are called to one of three basic vocations in life:

  • Single Life

  • Married Life

  • Consecrated or ordained life

Discernment is the process of searching out decisions that are right for you.  Basic tools are:

  • Prayer with an openness of heart to God’s leading

  • Reflection on your life and life’s experiences

  • Talking with those who know you well and can help you find your truest self

  • Gathering information by reading, visiting communities, speaking with sisters about their lives, asking about requirements

  • Discussion with a spiritual director

  • Considering pros and cons of all options

  • Go with what brings peace

God’s call—
”Were not our hearts burning within us?”
-Luke 24:32

For women yearning to understand God’s desire for them in life, we invite you to come and meet not only Bon Secours sisters who live the consecrated vowed life, but to meet others on the same journey. Maybe you’ve asked: How do I know if God is calling me? Can I be happy in this type of life? Can I make a commitment? These are some of the questions women ask when considering religious life.

To learn about religious life and to spend a weekend with Sisters of Bon Secours, come and see.  The weekend is filled with:

  • Prayer and Eucharist

  • Reflection

  • Group sharing of faith & stories

  • Presentations

  • Relaxing

Listening to your heart through discernment —
“God grant me a discerning heart.”

A weekend to explore how to listen to your heart and responding deeply to God’s call in your life.

If you are searching to understand what God is calling you to, come learn about tools of discernment to assist you in making important life choices in a prayerful manner. Sisters will open you to various aspects on discernment, share life stories and give you opportunity for personal input and reflection.

Discuss the gifts and pitfalls of discernment. Through prayer, presentations, personal reflection and group sharing, learn to find God in the deepest part of your heart.

“I have called you by
Name; you are mine.”

—Isaiah 43:1

What does it mean to say yes as Mary did? Mary’s story reveals a pattern: God invites, she hesitates, God makes a promise and Mary consents. Ananias’ call in Acts was similar. Do you experience a similar pattern in your own life? Where are you in that process? Do you find yourself hesitating? Listening? Consenting?

If God’s call involves a similar pattern as Mary’s story shows, and as you experience God’s call, what happens to you? Do you find yourself asking what if… to God’s invitation?

Come explore this process of invitation, hesitating, listening and consenting through presentations, prayer, reflection and sharing.
