Our Vision
Since the first twelve Sisters of Bon Secours joined together more than
180 years ago, we have devoted ourselves to caring for people’s
physical and spiritual needs, especially those who are poor and those
who are dying.

While that remains the core of our vision and mission, we believe our
charism is a living spirit that evolves as people’s needs change.
In fact, we believe change in how and where we work to bring people to
wholeness
is essential to the success of our mission.
Over the years, we have broadened our scope and reach from providing
care in the homes of the sick and dying, to working in community hospitals.
As
the delivery of health care rapidly changed, we changed as well, developing
health systems dedicated to providing a complete spectrum of care informed
by our faith. We sought to bring care to the poor and isolated with clinics
for migrant workers, mobile care vans, and programs designed to help
older
people get the services they need to stay healthy, cared for, and connected
to the larger community.
In addition, we looked beyond health care and found new avenues to
help people grow and achieve wholeness through the retreats, programs,
and
workshops we and our lay partners offer at our Spiritual Center. Where
we saw women
and children in poverty or living in fear and violence, we worked to
bring the resources, support, and guidance they need to build a new and
better
life.
In the past, the work of the Sisters of Bon Secours was primarily carried
out by religious sisters. Now, we work to expand our family to include
lay volunteers and associates, co-workers, and people from other religious
and community organizations who are working towards the goals and values
we share.
We are committed to continuing to seek new paths to help bring all
people to physical, mental, and spiritual wholeness. We are creative,
flexible,
passionate women whose lives center on healing and providing compassionate
care for all those in need and we invite you to join us.
